Assembly, Safety & Care

Assembly

  • Place the bowl securely on its legs on a firm, flat, non-combustible surface — concrete, paving, or compacted gravel are ideal. Never use on timber decking, dry grass, or any flammable surface.
  • Ensure all legs are fully seated and stable before lighting. Check stability each time before use.

Safe Placement

  • Position the fire pit at least 2–3 m from structures, fences, outdoor furniture, and overhanging vegetation.
  • Never use indoors, in an enclosed area, or under a pergola or gazebo.

Children & Pets

  • Keep children and pets at least 2 m away from the fire pit at all times during use and while cooling.
  • The steel bowl and legs become extremely hot during use and remain hot for an extended period after the fire is extinguished — do not touch.

Fuel

  • Use only dry, seasoned hardwood or quality charcoal. Do not burn treated timber, painted wood, rubbish, or accelerants such as petrol or methylated spirits.
  • Keep the fire to a manageable size within the bowl — do not overfill.

Open-Fire Rules (Australia)

  • Open-fire restrictions vary by state, territory, and local council, and are subject to Total Fire Ban declarations. Always check current fire restrictions with your local council or state fire authority (e.g. VIC: CFA/FFMV, NSW: NSW RFS, QLD: QFES) before lighting. Restrictions may prohibit use entirely on high-risk days.

Rust & Seasoning Care

  • This fire pit has a natural rust (mild steel) finish — surface rust is a normal characteristic and part of the aesthetic. It will continue to develop with weathering over time.
  • After use and once fully cooled, remove ash and debris from the bowl to prevent moisture retention, which can accelerate deep corrosion.
  • Periodically apply a light coat of high-heat cooking oil or food-safe metal conditioner to the bowl interior to slow corrosion and season the steel.
  • Store with a weather-resistant cover when not in use, or move to a sheltered area during prolonged wet periods.

Extinguishing & Disposal

  • Allow the fire to burn down completely. Do not use water to extinguish — sudden cooling can warp or crack the steel.
  • Ensure ash is completely cold (allow at least 24 hours) before disposal. Place cold ash in a metal container — never in a plastic bag or general waste bin while warm.
  • Dispose of ash in accordance with your local council waste guidelines.
